Moorestown Municipal Center
Moorestown is moving ahead to renovate their old municipal center complex built in the 1970's which includes the municipal office building, police station and library. The challenge here was to respond to client needs within budget and respecting the site constraints and to achieve a high LEED rating. The new site design address site circulation for both pedestrians and vehicles as well as creating a space for a small display garden and public gatherings like concerts or fairs. The new park is connected to Moorestown's main street via pedestrian walkways. In addition the plan recommends the latest approaches to BMP stormwater management such as groundwater recharge, rain sculptures and a cistern to capture and reuse runoff as irrigation water for the new landscape. Erik Karlsson was the designer and project landscape architect for Simone Collins and the team includes Kitchen & Associates Architects.
